Lovemore Madhuku

Lovemore Madhuku was born on July 20, 1966. He is married to Annamercy and has two children, a daughter Tendai(Be Thankful) and a son Nyasha (Mercy).

Education

He received a Bachelor of Law (Honours) degree in 1989 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1990, from the University of Zimbabwe. He then furthered his education studies and received a Master of Law in 1994 and a doctorate in law in 1999 from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

Civil Society

Lovemore Madhuku is the chairman of the National Constitutional Assembly of Zimbabwe, which is one of the key stakeholders in founding and establishing the Movement for Democratic Change, with the principal being to create a new democratic Constitution for the people of Zimbabwe. He is allied with MDC leader Arthur Mutambara and MDC Secretary General Tendai Biti against the Mugabe administration.,[1] June 16, 2007. VOA He has also faced strong criticism from Robert Mugabe about what the NCA stands for saying the NCA is Madhuku's fund raising machine. Some believe it to be true though. He also lectures at the university of Zimbabwe faculty of law in Introduction to law, Constitutional law and Jurisprudence.

Recognition

Madhuku was awarded the 2004 Civil Courage Prize, sharing it with Iranian activist Emadeddin Baghi.[2]
